The patterns around the edge of the painting represent rain travelling from hill to hill. The tracks of the kangaroos are self evident. The large pale area in the centre is Lake Mackay, the artist's homeland, in Western Australia. Sandhills are shown as golden coloured patches.

Dingo Dreaming

Title: Dingo Dreaming
Artist: William Sandy, Pitjantjatjara tribe. 1983
Location: Centre's room 201 storage

The painting incorporates designs for the Dingo Dreaming ceremonies at Wingellina at the junction of the borders of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. The Dingo Ancestors passed through Wingellina in their journeys. The painting depicts the tracks of the Kungka Kutjarra(literally the"women two") who in the distant past wandered the desert, making camp at waterholes and performing ceremonies.
